The state of Illinois’ driving under the influence prevention classes – also called Illinois DUI Risk Education – are required to address specific subject areas during a mandatory minimum of 10 hours of classes. A DUI evaluation is performed to determine if a motorist must take Illinois DUI Risk Education and to determine if they are a minimal, moderate or significant risk.

-Information on alcohol as a drug.
-The physical and psychological effects of alcohol and other substances such as the impairment on regular levels of driving capabilities.
-The effect of other legal and illegal drugs and their influence on driving when used separately or with alcohol.
-The impact that substance and alcohol abuse can have on individuals and their families.
-Information on blood alcohol concentration levels and the relation to driving capabilities.
-Information on DUI laws in Illinois and associated penalties.
-Factors that can contribute to alcohol and drug abuse.
-Tips and referrals for helpful services that can target any identified problems that might raise the risk of future alcohol and drug-related difficulties.
After finishing the minimum 10 hours of Illinois DUI Risk Education classes, a test will be administered. To successfully pass the test, a score of at least 75 percent is required.
